Good Vibes Only — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
Good Vibes Only is a community map where people pin small moments of good, which
feed a density heatmap showing where positivity is happening. This policy explains
what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect
as little as possible.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you choose to sign in, you can use
Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or an email account. We receive the
identifier, name, and email address the provider shares. With Apple you can
choose to hide your email, in which case we receive Apple's private relay
address instead of your real one. You can browse the map without signing in;
an account is only needed to post or confirm vibes.
- Location. With your permission, we use your device location to
center the map near you and to place a pin where a vibe happened. The location
attached to a vibe you post is saved as part of that vibe. We do not track your
location in the background.
- Content you create. The vibes you post, including their text,
category, location, optional place tag, and time, are stored so they can appear
on the map. Posts are anonymous by default; your name is shown only if you turn
that on for a given post.
- Confirmations. When you tap "love to see it" on a vibe, we record
that your account confirmed it, so each person can confirm a vibe once (and
take it back).
- A device identifier. We generate a random per-install identifier
used to associate posts made before you sign in. It is not tied to your real-world
identity.
- Notification token. If you turn on notifications, your device
provides a push token, which we store so we can send you notifications (for
example, when someone confirms your vibe). It is an anonymous device address, not
your name or location.
How we use information
- To show the map and heatmap and to display the vibes you and others post.
- To let you sign in, post, and confirm vibes, and to show you which are yours.
- To check that submitted text fits a positive, good-vibes community before it is
published (see moderation below).
- To keep the map current by letting vibes expire after about 90 days.
- To send you notifications you have turned on, such as when someone confirms your
vibe or when good vibes are happening near a spot you posted.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
What is public
Vibes are meant to be seen. When you post, the vibe's text, category, and location
become visible to everyone using the app. Your name is not shown unless you opt in
for that post; otherwise the post appears anonymously.
Anonymous means your name is hidden from other people in the app. The post stays
linked to your account on our systems, which is how moderation, blocking, and
deleting your own posts work. Remember that a post's location and text are chosen
by you and are public, so share only what you are comfortable placing on the map.
Third-party services
We rely on a few trusted providers to run the app. Information is shared with them
only as needed to provide the service:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, and backend hosting)
stores your account, vibes, and confirmations.
- Anthropic processes the text of a vibe you submit to help decide
whether it belongs on a good-vibes map. The text is sent for that check only and
is not used to identify you.
- Mapbox provides the map imagery and, when you place a pin,
converts coordinates into nearby place names.
- Expo delivers push notifications on our behalf, passing them to
Apple and Google's notification services to reach your device. Only your
notification token and the message are shared for delivery.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
Data retention
Vibes fade from the map after about 90 days and are then deleted. Each "love to see it"
confirmation extends a vibe's life. You can delete your own vibes at any time from
within the app. If you would like your account information removed, contact us at the
email below.
Your choices
- Browse the map freely without creating an account.
- Post anonymously by default, or opt in to show your name per post.
- Allow or deny location access in your device settings (denying it limits pin
placement but you can still browse).
- Delete your own vibes, and sign out at any time.
- Turn notifications on or off per type in the app's Settings, or turn them off
entirely in your device settings.
Children
Good Vibes Only is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information,
contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We use reputable infrastructure (Google Firebase) and reasonable safeguards to protect
your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we
work to keep your data safe.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the date at
the top of this page.
